![]() ![]() This though depends on an individual’s taste - some will like the highly reflective finish of the rear panel whereas others could find it pretty loud. The unit we had was ‘Amazing Silver’ (it's actually light blue), which showed various tints of light blue under different lighting conditions. However, the rear panel looks better than the former, especially with the ridge around the camera. This is the same glass used on the U Ultra launched earlier this year. HTC has gone to great depths for designing the rear panel on the U11 with a glass made from Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition. But that doesn’t mean the U11 is boring to look at. HTC has instead opted to stay classic - retain the old-school smartphone look. In 2017, if you have to design a flagship smartphone, you have to follow the trend of incorporating slim-bezels, better displays and great looking designs on your best offering. So, is it just another revamped version of its predecessors or worthy of its title - quietly brilliant? Let’s find out. During its launch, HTC marked the U11 aside from the competition with their new ‘ Edge Sense’ feature along with a great camera sensor. And now, in a world dominated by Samsung’s piece-de-resistance Galaxy S-series and the budget-heroes from OnePlus, the Taiwanese smartphone giant hopes to make a comeback with their latest offering - the HTC U11. #Ufocus htc u11 android#Times have moved on since the HTC One M7 and other players have taken HTC’s mantle of bringing in better and innovative Android smartphones. (However, the HTC Desire was also one of the best, unforgettable smartphones where developers would swear by it.) As years rolled by, HTC evolved into a recognisable name in the world of smartphones, claiming one of the best Android phones in history to their name - HTC One M7. It provided the perfect platform to debut the Android OS and provide a tough competition to the iPhone. That said, I am selling mine because the screen on it is awful. When HTC launched the Dream back in 2008, it quietly started a revolution in the world of mobile phones. ![]() #Ufocus htc u11 software#Software is outdated on Android 9, but you can use a custom ROM of course like Pixel Experience. The screen also has a lot of ghosting whilst scrolling, but it's possible that is just a fault my unit.īut on the positive side, the rest of the phone is great, stereo speakers are amazing for videos and music, good camera, looks amazing (I have the blue colour) and feels great in the hand. I saw many reviews saying the colour accuracy on this panel wasn't great. I tried installing a custom ROM and tweaking the colours using KCAL sliders, but it was impossible to get it looking remotely right. And for my eyes the screen is far too oversaturated and colour-inaccurate in the standard vivid mode. I saw 2 other people complaining about it online. I found out that thing I mentioned, where the grey colours look green in the sRGB mode is actually normal. Minu, Btw what's your opinion on the HTC U11?Well I decided not to purchase the U11+ in the end, and I mentioned in the non-Plus U11 opinion thread about the problems I had with the display on the second-hand model I bought on that phone. Perhaps I could try to purchase another U11 and get the 128GB model next time. I dislike to use SD cards for multiple reasons security, slower speed and having files spread out across two different sources. Mine is also the 64GB model which is not enough storage for my needs. #Ufocus htc u11 update#The hardware keys work fine on the stock ROM, but then you're stuck on Android 9 and can't update or get security patches. ![]() You can use the on-screen nav keys, but that takes up more space. I found out that the hardware keys do not work in custom ROMs on the Japan model in particular. ![]() If they're gonna insist on these tall phones, then at least make it in Android so that the quick settings swipes in from the bottom like on iOS.īut one reason I will sell my U11 in particular is because it is the Japanese variant. Nowadays everything has 6.5" screen and weighs 200g and more, it's ridiculous. I've tried quite a few modern phones but they're all too tall to operate with one hand, and too heavy as well. moreYeah I hate moving away from the 16:9 aspect ratio. Minu, Better if you could find a replacement screen and not sell it. ![]()
